After title rivals Manchester United lost 2-0 to Newcastle, a win on home soil would see City lift the North trophy with two league games left to play.
An early goal from Kylan Midwood saw City ahead after the first-half before the half-time introduction of Teddie Lamb would swing the game fully in our favour.
Our prolific striker would find the net on 58 minutes before turning provider for Xavier Parker.
A penalty scored by Israel Green saw Derby claw their way back into the game, but City responded with two more goals for Midwood to complete his hat-trick.
The Rams, however, upped the tempo with hopes of making an unlikely comeback were boosted when Hodges and Corry reduced the arrears.
But it’s fair to say it wasn’t an easy road to get to this moment and Reiss explained his emotions just moments after being named as winners.
“I’m very happy and very very proud of the lads
“I also want to mention that when you win a title as Manchester City sometimes it feels a bit like ‘yeah, okay this is what we can expect from United or City’ but it isn’t like this.
“It was a tough season for us, there were tough phases, draws, losing games, how to come back mentality.
“There were games we won at the end, but also we were down one or two goals, so there were very tough moments and that’s why I think it is not just what we should expect, but it is more, it’s a well deserved win at the end.”
