Under-18s Lead Coach Oliver Reiss explains that his young players will continue to develop and learn from every game, including our 2-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

In a difficult Manchester derby, second half goals from Gabe Biancheri and Bendito Mantato meant the Under-18 Premier League North title holders left the City Football Academy with all three points.

The result follows City’s 0-0 draw at Leeds the weekend prior, our opening game of the 2024/25 season.

And in what has been a testing start to the campaign for the new Lead Coach and his young squad, Reiss is pleased to see his players tested and knows each individual will benefit and develop from the experiences they’ve had over the past two weeks.

“For me it’s okay to see [challenge for] the points but for me the points are that we have to improve,” began Reiss.

“The challenge is to take these moments and develop. We know what to improve and we will do that.

“Every match, it doesn’t matter what competition it is, every match is important and in terms of developing the players, every chance to improve is important.”
