Oliver Reiss says his Under-18s team must stay resilient throughout the final three weeks of the 2025/26 campaign.

With three league games left to play, City moved three points clear of second-place Manchester United after a clinical 5-0 win over Middlesbrough whilst our title rivals lost 2-1 to Sunderland.

It was another impressive outing from our young Blues with five different goal scorers in Kylan Midwood, Christian Dunbar-McDonald,  Teddie Lamb, Dante Headley and Finlay Gorman.

And for Reiss, his team have showed incredible resilience in recent weeks as the title race heats up, and he hopes they continue to do so for the final weeks of the 2025/26 campaign that will also include an FA Youth Cup final Manchester derby and a potential Under-18 National Final against South league winners Chelsea.

“I’m very happy with the result at the end. And also the performance. You could see the last 20 minutes, also because of the sun it was the same for both teams of course, was tough at the end,” said Reiss.

“We started very well, with a few chances but also they had some good chances to score against us with great counter-attacks. We were struggling a little bit with this in the first half but in total the whole game I’m very happy today.

“Resilience at the end,” continued Reiss.

“Because it’s crunch time now. Resilience in terms of the weather is coming now, the games are harder and difference challenges now so can we sustain the energy. Can we also in the training sessions keep the level high.

“This is what we need in every game and also today when we are three or four-nil up, to improve in these games also. Can we go the 90 minutes, can we go in every session now without anything dropping.

“So I think this is the biggest challenge at the moment, maintaining the energy.”
