Under-18s Lead Coach Oliver Reiss feels his team did well to defend our two-goal lead against an intense Sunderland outfit to help our young boys in blue pick up a 14th Under-18 Premier League North win to stay at the league summit.

In one of the trickiest games of the 2024/25 season for our Under-18s, Divine Mukasa and Ryan McAidoo fired City into a 2-0 lead inside six minutes and the scoreline would stay that way for the rest of the match.

Despite Sunderland totalling more chances come the full-time whistle, strong performances from ‘keeper Max Hudson and defenders Kian Noble, Harrison Parker, Kaden Braithwaite and Dante Headley, City earned a seventh league clean sheet.

HIGHLIGHTS | CITY 2-0 SUNDERLAND

And with it another important victory in our fight for the league title thanks to the quality of Reiss’s players.

“I think all in all we scored two goals, we should have scored more in the first half and again we saw the quality of all our players in terms of scoring goals and creating chances,” began Reiss.

“But all in all I think Sunderland did very well, they started better than us. They should have scored in the first minute I think and in the second half they had a lot of chances.

“I think because of the quality of all our players we won this game but I think when you think about the performance as a team it was not our best game and at the same time again Sunderland did very well, I think they deserved at least one goal.

“But all in all we are happy again for this victory.”
