Under-18s Lead Coach Oliver Reiss says he was pleased with his team’s performance in our 3-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday.

Compared to City’s 5-0 and 7-0 triumphs over Blackburn and Middlesbrough respectively in the previous weeks, the difficult contest against the Reds in our most recent league assignment saw the Academy players tested differently.

And it served as a reminder that there are always areas in which the youngsters can improve on a personal level and as a team as we chase down the league summit.

And Reiss is looking forward to the challenge of improving in certain areas whilst also crediting the positive aspects of his team’s performance.

“Of course there were some good situations, so good phases from us,” began Reiss.

“Without that you cannot win 3-1 against a very tough opponent, today was a very tough game.

“All in all, we are happy with the result but we know that there were a lot of phases we were not good enough on the ball and the intensity against the ball was not the same as the last weeks.

“But yes, we know what to improve, at the end the quality was good enough today in some situations to win the game and of course we are very happy with those things.”
