Our young boys in blue fell to a first Under-18 Premier League North defeat since October, losing 3-1 to title challengers Manchester United on Saturday afternoon to see them move one point behind City.
It followed another huge game in City’s campaign after we beat Chelsea 4-1 in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup on Monday.
And Reiss admitted his team’s energy levels looked a little deflated at the City Football Academy on Saturday, with the Red Devils more clinical in the final third to see them snatch three key points in the race for the North title.

But with three games in hand over United, starting with our midweek clash against Wolves on Tuesday 17 February, Reiss is confident his players will show grit and determination to return to winning ways as quickly as possible.
“At the end it’s not just one game [defeat to United] it’s one of the games,” began Reiss
“Of course we wanted to win this game and for us it’s not just about the table and the specific game. It doesn’t matter what the table is looking like.
“But I think we can take this after the game to say ‘okay we are still in a good place’ and maybe in a better place with three games more than United.
“So I think two days now and then playing on Tuesday.

“I think we will be fine.
“We will have some changes also to give opportunities to other players to prove themselves. I think we will be fine.
“Not looking too much back on this game, not looking on the table too much.
“I think we have the self confidence to forget this game a little bit.”
