Under-18s Lead Coach Oliver Reiss said the quality within our squad was front and centre today in our 7-0 victory over Wolves.

Our young boys in blue returned to winning ways following a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Providing the perfect response with a ruthless 7-0 victory over Wolves at the City Football Academy on Tuesday afternoon.

Match report | CITY 7-0 WOLVES

It marked our largest victory of the season and Reiss was full of praise for his side, who were much changed with a rotated squad.

“I’m really proud of the lads today,” he said.

“It’s not just a response to our last game, but we also had four or five changes to the starting XI, so it was an opportunity for them to prove their quality.”

“It was also a chance for them to prove me wrong and show me why I could pick them more often or sub them in earlier.

“It was a real showcase of the quality we have in the squad.”

It was also the first time since a 5-0 win over Blackburn that his side managed to keep a clean sheet, not only did they keep Wolves from scoring, but the West Midlands outfit didn’t register a shot on target.

“I’m also very proud of their second half performance because when you know you’re already 5-0 up after half time it’s important to take the second half and improve areas of our game,” Reiss added.

“We started with a high energy, but it was more about completing a whole performance right until the end. Keeping a clean sheet, what our response is to losing the ball and so on.

“We’ve had previous games where we have dropped in so many areas despite leading early on and this wasn’t the case today which made me very proud.”
