After wins over Crystal Palace, Millwall and Leeds, Reiss’s side are one step closer to winning the prestigious FA Youth Cup title for a second successive season.
And whilst him and the team are excited by the prospect of lifting silverware at the end of the campaign, Reiss is also extremely proud of how his team has developed over the past few months.
“It is not always just about winning games. Maybe it sounds a little bit weird that there’s more than just winning, but it is what it is in terms of the performance,” explained Reiss.
“And to develop as a team and develop the players as an individual. And it’s important the way we win. For example, on Saturday the [league] game against Sunderland was not our best performance.
“And of course, I want every game to be a good performance with the team. But when we have it like this, we can also have a benefit out of it and we will use this, we are working on this.
“We struggled in a few moments in the game, in a few phases, but again, we can work on that.
“Maybe it’s a good moment to have a performance like this on Saturday, just a few days before the game against West Brom. No one wants it, but when it is like this, then it is sometimes good to work on it.”
