After recording an excellent 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the Academy Stadium in our latest assignment, Brian Barry-Murphy’s side moved one step closer to solidifying our position at the division’s summit in 2022/23.
The Norwegian ace opened the scoring in the first half, before Kian Breckin and Carlos Borges extended our lead ahead of Leo Castledine’s consolation for the visitors.
Success over the Londoners mean it’s mathematically impossible for them to reach the 50 points we’ve already obtained, with Crystal Palace, who are on 41 points with four games to play, the only team able to catch us.
But thanks to our sizeable goal compared to the Eagles, 53 points should be enough to cement our position at the league’s summit.
If we are to claim the championship, it will be our third in as many years.
And Bobb is buoyed by the prospect of gaining another PL2 winners’ medal.
“We’re excited. I think it’s a great position to be in and there’s a lot of competition in the squad now, so we train hard to try to get a place in the starting line-up,” he explained.
“It would be great [to win a third consecutive PL2 title].
“This team and this club have done very well in the last couple of seasons and it’s an honour to play for this club and it would be great to win the Premier League 2 again.
“We’re all very happy [with the result against Chelsea]. We knew it was going to be a very tough game against one of the best teams in the league.
“Coming out on top was great and it was a solid performance.”
