The hosts proved tough opponents who looked to control possession early on. But Brian Barry-Murphy‘s youngsters were determined to implement City’s style of football, pressing high and working as a cohesive unit as often as possible to regain the ball.
And this worked well, earning City a handful of chances with Jaden Heskey and Will Dickson going closest to finding the first goal.
As time went on, however, RB Leipzig continued to grow into the game, having a spell of opportunities themselves but heroic goal keeping by George Murray-Jones left the score level at half-time.

In the second 45 minutes both teams had their minds set on securing three points. And it was RB Leipzig who broke the deadlock through a Yannick Eduardo goal on the hour mark despite Murray-Jones’ best efforts in between the sticks.
City showed grit and determination, though with the Under-19s fighting hard for an equaliser.
And their work was rewarded in the 72nd minute through an own goal by Leipzig captain Elias Lenz who diverted Jacob Wright‘s free-kick into his own goal meaning the points were shared on the final whistle.
