Under-18s winger Ryan McAidoo says City’s momentum and positive run of form is the most important thing for the team as we head into our latest Under-18 Premier League Cup clash with Brighton.

We welcome the Seagulls to the City Football Academy for an 11:00 (UK) kick-off and the game will be available to watch live on CITY+.

McAidoo joined City’s Academy in the summer after spells at Colchester and Chelsea.

And since joining he’s found his feet in Oliver Reiss’s squad and has become a regular figure in our Under-18 matchday squads.

Two goals in two league games and a full debut appearance in the UEFA Youth League which saw McAidoo assist two goals in our 4-0 triumph over Slovan Bratislava, the 16-year-old is beginning to enjoy life in Manchester.

But he’s fully focused on each game as it approaches and helping the team keep the momentum building from one week to the next.

“I think it’s always good to collect momentum, it’s the most important thing. Following our result with Sunderland we should head into it confident and pick up three points against a tough Brighton side,” said McAidoo.

“I think it’s the best thing about playing in cup competitions is pushing for silverware. If we can go out and get good results early, we have a good chance of winning the competition.

“I think the loss in the final last season will have helped the team develop as characters, experiencing what it is like to lose.

“We can use that as motivation to push on and feel what it is like to win.

“I’m hoping to bring creativity and goals against Brighton. Goals help win games and if I’m able to get goals then I think we can get a good result.”
