Manchester City will be looking to get the new Premier League campaign off to a flying start away at Brighton on Saturday.
And if Pep Guardiola and his players needed an encouraging omen ahead of their trip to the Amex Stadium, they could take heart from the way City have started all of their recent league campaigns.
The goals have rained in over the past few August opening dates with City enjoying flying starts in their last four league seasons with Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and David Silva amongst those on the score-sheet.
From sweeping Newcastle aside 4-0 in Manuel Pellegrini’s first match at the helm, City then followed that up 12 months later with a 2-0 triumph away to the Magpies.
The first match of the 2015/16 campaign saw City produce a superb 3-0 win at West Brom while Guardiola’s opening match in charge 12 months saw the Blues overcome dogged resistance from Sunderland, as they secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
