Manchester City will be be looking to take maximum points from their opening two league games in their first home fixture of the season against Everton tomorrow night.

City have a decent record against the Toffees in recent years, with their last league defeat at the Etihad against Everton coming in December 2010. Yaya Toure’s strike from the penalty spot back in December 2014 however was the last time City claimed all three points at home against the blue half of Merseyside.

City got the ball rolling in the Premier League last weekend with a hard-fought 2-0 victory in their opening fixture against newly promoted Brighton.

They face a stern test in their first game back at the Etihad however, against an Everton side who have been busy in the summer transfer window. Record signing Gylfi Sigurðsson is likely to make his debut for our opponents under the Etihad floodlights after his recent move from Swansea, who became Ronald Koeman’s eighth signing of the summer.

Plenty of new faces will be on show for both sides - with City’s new defensive recruits Kyle Walker, Danilo and Benjamin Mendy eager to get their first taste of playing in front of a City home crowd, as well as midfielder Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson.
