Special was how Pep Guardiola described Phil Foden’s first performance in the Manchester City first team.
Despite a 2-0 defeat, the Stockport-born midfielder turned in a performance beyond his year against Manchester United in Houston, though that will come as no surprise to regulars at the Academy Stadium throughout the 2016/17 campaign.
The 17-year-old was an integral member of City’s U18s as they swept all before them in the U18s Premier League North division and reached the final of the FA Youth Cup.
Foden netted 11 goals from midfield and turned in a number of eye-catching displays for the young Blues, a trend which continued at the NRG Stadium.
Guardiola acknowledged the youngster could possibly remain with the first team once the pre-season tour is over and those unfamiliar with his style of play can check out his highlights from last season, here.
