The Argentine full-back was given the send-off he deserved when he said farewell to the Etihad Stadium in the Blues’ final home game of the 2016/17 season.
Early on Monday – a day in which the pride, solidarity and love in the city shone through - the team travelled across Manchester to give thanks to the fans for their unwavering support, explaining that this Club is simply nothing without them.
Although he was about to depart for pastures new, Club legend Zabaleta was in attendance.
He surprised seven City fans, who were invited by CityTV to the City Football Academy to share their fond memories of ‘ZabMan’.
Tributes were uttered, poems were read out, tears were shed… and that’s before the defender stepped out to reveal that he had been listening all along!
