In Guangzhou, the Unified Schools project is using football to help promote disability inclusion.

There are 13 million people with an intellectual disability in China and for them, integrating into mainstream society can be a difficult task.

However, thanks to the efforts of Peng and other Young Leaders, these barriers are being broken down.

The Unified Schools project delivers combined soccer programmes for children with and without intellectual disabilities, creating a safe and inclusive environment to help break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and build friendships.

Commenting on the importance of Unified Schools, Peng said: “Through this project we can come together to enjoy football and build a community of acceptance and inclusion.”

This project is delivered in partnership with Special Olympics East Asia
