Pep Guardiola is a manager committed to playing open, attacking football.
This season has offered further evidence of that. City have scored 130 goals throughout the current campaign, including 93 in the Premier League alone. Indeed, the all-time Premier League record is 103, set by Chelsea in 2009-10, a figure well within reach over the final five games.
There have been 14 different players who have scored for us this season, but, perhaps most impressive, is the fact five have reached double figures in all competitions.
Sergio Aguero has 30, Raheem Sterling 22, Gabriel Jesus 13, Leroy Sane 13 and Kevin De Bruyne 11. David Silva needs just one more to join the double-figures collective.
The goals have been spread around, taking the burden off our out-and-out strikers. It was a key tenant of Guardiola’s time at Barcelona and Bayern Munich and he’s managed to replicate it here.
