Locked in a closely fought battle for the Premier League title with Liverpool, Everton handed their neighbours a boost when Ross Barkley opened the scoring from distance.

Sergio Aguero levelled for Manuel Pellegrini’s men and Edin Dzeko, who was instrumental in our push for the title that season, grabbed a brace before Romelu Lukaku added a second for the hosts.

City held on in the closing period to go top of the league on goal difference and it was a result which provided us with a platform to win the Premier League for the second time.
