“Wouldn’t it be great if one day, City had a women’s football team?”
This week, we celebrate 30 years of women’s football at Manchester City.
As part of the commemoration, we invited eight people involved within the Club at different stages of its journey to recall the heart-warming and rib-tickling stories of the decades.
Founder Neil Mather, former players Michelle Mather and Debs Darbyshire, current stars Karen Bardsley and Abi McManus, plus City in the Community Ambassador Alex Williams MBE and football journalists Nicola McCarthy and Caroline Oatway, were invited to participate in a ‘round table’ debate, looking back on how the Club reached its current format and discussing the key topics within women’s football.
