Kyle Walker had to be at his acrobatic best to spectacularly deny Salah’s goal-bound effort later on and take the game to penalties, allowing goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to take centre-stage.
The Chilean denied Georginio Wijnaldum from 12 yards, allowing Gabriel Jesus to coolly sweep home the decisive spot-kick and bring the Community Shield back to the Etihad.
And based on the post-match smiles in the dressing room, it’s clear how much picking up this latest gong meant to everyone involved!
