Saturday sees the new season officially get under way when City take on Liverpool at Wembley in the Community Shield.
It’s the traditional curtain-raiser ahead of the Premier League season, and this week we spoke to Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva to get their pre-match thoughts.
Both are agreed it’s a significant occasion, with the chance to win a trophy a tantalising one.
“It’s always important because it’s a trophy you can win and it sets the standard for the whole year,” De Bruyne said. “You want to set the standard from the beginning.”
Bernardo added: “We are not 100 per cent fit and we need to get back to our best condition but we are happy to be here and it’s always fun.”
