Manchester City return to Wembley this weekend, as our 2019/20 season begins with a Community Shield clash against Liverpool.
It’s the fifth time we’ve contested a trophy at the home of English football since Pep Guardiola’s arrival at the Club and the reigning Premier League champions will hope to make it five successive wins.
It’s been a happy hunting ground for us, too, both during and before Pep took the helm at the Etihad Stadium.
Yaya Toure was the man responsible for kick-starting our recent spate of Wembley wins, crashing home against Stoke to seal the 2011 FA Cup and since then we’ve lifted six trophies there.
Last season’s emphatic 6-0 FA Cup final win over Watford was our most recent victory, while the travelling City faithful have also enjoyed League Cup success over Sunderland, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Twelve months ago our Community Shield triumph paved the way for a historic campaign, and Guardiola’s side will again hope to make a strong start against last season’s runners-up.
Ahead of the game, remind yourself of our most recent Wembley win in the video above!
