There are few who doubt Kelechi Iheanacho’s instincts inside the area – and the Man City striker once again demonstrated how lethal he can be during the 3-0 win over Hull on Boxing Day.
The Nigerian came on in the second half and had a huge impact, giving City a focal point to their attack that had been absent throughout the first half.
He scored City’s second, finishing off a wonderful move involving Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, and caused the Hull backline all sorts of problems with his pace and direct style.
He has scored 12 goals from his last 19 shots on target in the Premier League and now has the best minutes-per-goal ratio since the English top flight was revamped in 1992. Impressive.
“The whole team played really well and at the end, we got the three points – that’s all we need,” Iheanacho said afterwards.
“Hull is a very strong team – they have great, quality players. Coming on is what I wanted.
“We are getting our confidence back and going into the winning mentality. We are stepping up now; we are strong at the back and in the front, scoring goals and getting the points we need.
“The next games, we’ll be strong and get the win.”
Here’s his goal from every vantage point we could find. Enjoy.
