Ilkay Gundogan broke Premier League passing records with his performance against Chelsea.

The German midfielder had the most touches and made the most passes and successful passes in Premier League history as Manchester City won 1-0.

With 174 completed passes, Gundogan broke the record of 164 set by another City player, Yaya Toure, back in December 2011.

It was a record-breaking day all round for City, with Pep Guardiola’s men also becoming the first side to make 900 passes in a Premier League game since Opta began collecting data back in 2003.

Bernardo Silva converted David Silva’s sweeping centre to confirm the Blues’ victory, extending the lead at the top of the table to 18 points.
