Sergio Aguero scored his 177th goal for City during the Blues’ 3-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League.
The Argentinian struck a first-half penalty to equal Eric Brook’s all-time goalscoring record, and is just one goal away from making Club history.
The goal-machine looked almost certain to break the record, but saves from Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope meant that Aguero remained level with Brook and his long-held record which has stood since 1938.
Not only did Sergio draw level with Brook, but his efforts helped Pep Guardiola’s side to secure their eleventh consecutive win – again, equalling the club record.
The Argentina international came off late in the game to a standing ovation at the Etihad when he was substituted for Gabriel Jesus.
The Burnley game marked Aguero’s first appearance since he injured his ribs in a road accident, and the striker definitely made his comeback in style.
