One year ago today, a momentous occasion at the Etihad saw City beat United 1-0 in the first ever professional women's Manchester Derby.

Played in front of a crowd of 31,213 - a Women’s Super League record - City recovered from a laboured first-half display to start the new campaign with a historic win.

Caroline Weir was the hero, scoring a remarkable 25-yard goal that flew into the top corner, to become the first female to score in a professional Manchester Derby.

Weir said of the goal afterwards: “I can’t think of a better one I’ve scored!

“I’m delighted to score but delighted to get three points too.

“I just remember picking the ball up. I had some space, so I decided to shoot. It was nice to score.”

Ellie Roebuck also produced a superb performance to keep the Reds at bay, as City held out to draw first blood in one of three 2019/20 Derbies...
