Fernandinho’s stamina ensured he had a spot in compatriot Fernando’s Ultimate Footballer.
Having witnessed first-hand the benefits of the former’s boundless energy at the heart of Manchester City’s midfield, the 29-year-old was in no doubt as to whose fitness he would want if he was to create a super player.
With no fewer than four of his fellow countrymen selected, there was a Brazilian feel as the midfielder chose from team mates past and present.
The aptly named Hulk was the big winner, receiving two nominations for his pace and strength and the acknowledgement that he was the most difficult player to mark in training during Fernando’s spell at Porto.
There was also recognition for Radamel Falcao’s heading, James Rodriguez’s vision and Joao Moutinho’s passion, while the right and left foot department were manned by a pair of Selecao full backs – Real Madrid’s Danilo and Juventus’ Alex Sandro.
