It was one of the most important goals of Manchester City’s season.
Raheem Sterling‘s winner secured three points away at Huddersfield in a game that looked likely to end in disappointment.
A Nicolas Otamendi own goal had given Huddersfield the lead at half-time – but Sergio Aguero’s penalty moments after the restart got City back into the match.
We dominated thereafter but couldn’t find a breakthrough until Sterling’s 84th-minute winner.
There was a touch of fortune about the goal. A big deflection saw the ball loop into the ait before falling into Sterling’s path and he finished coolly past Jonas Lossl. Cue scenes of delirium in the away end.
The result equalled a club record - set in 2015 - by securing an 11th successive Premier League victory, and saw us open up an eight-point lead at the top of the table.
Afterwards, Pep Guardiola said: “We spoke at half-time about how to react, we had enough chances to score and the first time Huddersfield had a chance they scored. We spoke about not giving up, to keep going.
“It was a brilliant move to win the penalty.
“It is impossible to win every game easily, this league is so tough. The guys competed amazingly, which is why we won.”
