That put City 1-0 up after 22 minutes, and moments later it was 2-0 when Ilkay Gundogan struck a fine penalty.
Cristian Eriksen halved the arrears against the run of play just before half-time, but City’s dominance was reasserted in the second period when Raheem Sterling made it 3-1.
