Mpenza seals the deal for City in 2007 away at Middlesbrough after a mistake at the back causes the Belgian to pounce.
In front of raucous fans at the Riverside Stadium, City were able to enter the den of the home side and score two goals against Boro.
Both goals came in the second half as Distin scored the first to put City up by one goal with Mpenza adding the second after 74 minutes to give City total control.
The score ended 0-2 to the Blues. City will travel to the Riverside Stadium this Saturday to take on Boro in the FA Cup.
