Goal of the Day: Alvaro Negredo v Liverpool, 2013

Take a trip back to Boxing Day in 2013 as Alvaro Negredo scored the winner against Liverpool.

Coutinho had given the away side the lead from a tight angle in the 24th minute before captain Vincent Kompany levelled the score just seven minutes later.

With the game poised at 1-1, Negredo struck in the first minute of added time at the end of the first half and it proved to be the winner.

Jesus Navas was the provider as he sent City’s number nine through on goal with an inch-perfect pass before Negredo applied the finish with the outside of his left foot.

Simon Mignolet got a hand to it but it wasn’t strong enough as the ball rolled over the line to seal the three points for the Blues.
