Fabian Delph’s long-range effort against Crystal Palace in 2016 in the subject of today’s Goal of the Day.
The Manchester City midfielder picked up the ball around 30 yards from goal and let fly with a powerful low drive that gave Wayne Hennessey no chance in the Palace goal.
It set City on their way to a comfortable 4-0 win, orchestrated by the genius of David Silva in midfield.
The Spaniard dictated play, completing more passes (67) and having more touches (96) than any other player on the pitch.
Sergio Aguero scored twice to put the result beyond doubt, before Silva added a fourth to seal his man-of-the-match award.
The result briefly put City top of the Premier League table after 22 games of the season, but Leicester’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa later that day saw them return to top spot.
Afterwards, then City boss Manuel Pellegrini said: “Was it comfortable? No, because you never know in this game. The first half, the two goals gave us more space as they’ve had to go for the draw. That allowed us to use that space and score two more.”
