The game at Southampton in May 2016 wasn’t a memorable one for Manchester City – but Kelechi Iheanacho’s late curler gave the away fans something to cheer as they headed home.

City lost 4-2, with Sadio Mane, now of Liverpool, scoring a terrific hattrick for the home side. City, who had changed their lineup significantly ahead of a trip to Madrid for the Champions League semi-final with Real a three days later, were outplayed.

But with 12 minutes left, Iheanacho, who had already bagged one in the first half, received the ball on the edge of the area, took one touch to set himself before unleashing a bending top-corner effort that left Fraser Forster with no chance.

It was a wonderful goal that offered further evidence of Iheanacho’s goalscoring ability.
