The England striker joined City from Aston Villa that summer and took just three games to open his account.

Trevor Sinclair put City two up and although the hosts pulled a goal back through Anthony Le Tallec, City secured the points.

Vassell went onto score 10 goals for City that season, the first of four he spent at the Club.
