Today’s Goal of the Day takes us back to 2002 as Kevin Keegan’s entertaining Manchester City side won 2-1 away at Watford.

Tommy Smith had given the Hornets the lead on 26 minutes, not long after Shaun Goater had missed a good chance from just a few yards out.

But Paulo Wanchope equalised three minutes later when Goater headed down Danny Tiatto’s cross to gift the Costa Rican striker a simple close-range finish.

City were lacklustre in the second half but were gifted the three points when Heidar Helguson put the ball in his own net with 10 minutes remaining.

Kevin Keegan’s side went on to secure promotion to the Premier League, winning the old First Division with 99 points and scoring 108 along the way.
