Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted he knows how City can improve over the coming matches.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of City’s Premier League clash with league leaders Chelsea, he said: “We speak every day on what we can do to improve for the league and what we can do to help us to be stronger. Of course, we will try to buy some players but all the teams are going to think like that, even Chelsea.

“We are good when we attack but sometimes when we defend we are thinking about the result and not what we have to do. It depends on the mentality of the players and in some of the games we have to convince them.

“Every day is a day to get better and I am trying to convince them to play in a way we have played many, many times.”

Guardiola also gave his verdict on Wednesday’s opponents and what he expects from them at Stamford Bridge.

“All the teams want to make a counter-attack against us. Chelsea do not just control this part of the game,” he said.

“They are good in set pieces and one of the best positional teams in using the third man and setting up runs in behind. They use all the aspects of the game and that is why they are one of the best teams in Europe at the moment.”
