Pep Guardiola explains his delight at having Vincent Kompany back in the squad and his importance to the success of the team.
The manager admitted that it was not easy to break the deadlock against the Saints but explained that we did enough to finally open them apart.
“It was not easy to find the right spaces for our players but in the second half we were able to score goals and push pp.
“We were able to find players on the counter attack to kill the game I am so happy.”
He also was adamant about how important this win was for City’s top four title hopes, especially with a match against Manchester United coming up in the near future.
“Next Thursday we’re going to play the real final against Manchester United so we are in a good position and I am so so happy for that.”
The captain was also a topic of discussion for Pep as journalists flocked to ask the manager about the impact of the Belgian.
“I’m not going to explain the quality of Vincent Kompany, hopefully he can be fit until the end of the season because he is so so important for us ... Vincent is so so important for us.”
One thing that Pep Guardiola knows for sure is that the team is currently in a position that if we adopted in the earlier stages of the season would have put us in a better position at the current stage.
“I think we played well this season together, I think the balance of the team is good. When we lost the ball, we were there to make the transitions.
“David, Kun and Kevin are intelligent and amazing players but we have to score more of the chances we create.”
