Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has sounded a rousing call-to-arms ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.
As he looked ahead to the 2017/18 campaign, which starts away at Brighton on Saturday, Kompany said he and his City team-mates were as excited as the fans about the prospects for the new campaign.
And the Belgian central defender, who will mark his 10th anniversary as a City player later this month, said the aim for the new season for Pep Guardiola’s side was simple – to win trophies.
“Last season we showed our potential and certain style so now the only way to have success is to win trophies and be better than the other teams,” said Kompany.
“If I think back to how fast the last 10 years have gone I would say the message is to don’t waste a single second.
“We have to win and we have to be a better team than last year.”
