Pep Guardiola hailed Fernandinho as a crucial component in his team.

Speaking in his City v Bournemouth press conference, the Blues boss spoke of the Brazilian’s significance, when asked whether the midfielder would be putting pen to paper on a new deal.

“He has known for a long time how important he is for us,” the Catalan stated.

“Hopefully, he will finish well.”

With the transfer window fast approaching, Guardiola remained coy when quizzed on potential transfers.

“I never spoke about our targets,” he added. “The media are so clever and intelligent, going to the places nobody knows about to get information.

“I never spoke about players. Today, it depends on the price of a player and many things.

“We will see.”
