Pep Guardiola has outlined his focus for the Manchester derby as City gear up for Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford.
City are currently at the summit of the Premier League table and are eight-points clear of second-placed United.
Guardiola was asked about whether opposition ‘keeper David De Gea – who has the highest number of Premier League clean sheets so far this season – is his biggest worry at the weekend.
The City boss responded saying that he simply wants his side to focus on playing “our game”.
“No,” the boss responded. “The big challenge is to play good and control their start point – to try to do our game.
“The focus is going there, relax, and knowing if you don’t win individual duels it will be impossible to beat them.
“I would like to finish the game feeling we are and what we have been during the season and try to find the best way to play good and win the game.”
Winning and in particular, playing well and to his principles is the most important thing for Guardiola, who refutes the claim that Sunday’s showdown is a title decider.
“Winning, drawing or losing, we are not going to win or lose the Premier League,” he added.
“It’s an important game because you can win points but it’s the same for them. All we are thinking is how to play well and win the game.
“The Premier League is a marathon and we have a long way to go.
“We have more than 70 points to play for so we are just thinking about the game, the recovery and then Swansea three days later.”
