Pep Guardiola reveals the latest injury news ahead of the Crystal Palace game...
Vincent Kompany should be available for the trip to Crystal Palace after City boss Pep Guardiola revealed the issue suffered against Newcastle United was a minor knock.
The skipper was withdrawn with less than 10 minutes played at St James’ Park, but is expected to travel to south London for the game against Crystal Palace.
“Vincent is not as bad as we thought,” revealed Pep. “He will be ready for the next fixtures. We will know exactly tomorrow, but it is not a big issue.”
The City manager also revealed Fabian Delph could be fit for Palace, but John Stones is not yet ready to play a full 90 minutes.
“Fabian was not fit for Newcastle, but he is much better now. Yesterday, he trained but the players are off today. We will see. Fabian is a similar case to Vincent - he knows his body.
“We will see tomorrow. John Stones is also much better. Yesterday he made first complete training session. But he is not ready for 90 minutes.
“I think he will be fit for the next game which is huge news for us.”
Continuing the defensive theme, Pep hailed the impact Nicolas Otamendi has had on the team this season, comparing the Argentine to superhero.
“We have a superman in the team,” he said.
“Otamendi helped us absolutely. If I would like to point to a player who deserves respect for what we have done so far this season, it is Otamendi.
“Always fighting. He is a huge competitor and one of the best I have seen in my life. So important. Without him, it would have been impossible.”
Pep added he is unsure whether David Silva will be available for Palace or Watford, adding, “We will see in the next days about David.”
