Carli Lloyd: I live for these big moments

Carli Lloyd could not have wished for a better Champions League debut.

The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year netted the winner in Man City Women’s quarter-final first leg triumph at Fortuna Hjorring, in just her second appearance in sky blue.

Having enjoyed success at the highest level, the American was delighted to open her goalscoring account for her new club so early on – and in such a crucial game.

“It was awesome,” Lloyd smiled. “It was my first goal as number 55 too!

“It was a great team effort. Jane served a world-class ball in and I just made sure I got on the end of it.

“We got the job done – we got the away goal and the win.

“It’s been a fantastic debut and I just want to keep going. Now, we focus on the next one.”
