Toni Duggan is relishing another month of thrilling challenges with Man City Women.
The Blues kick off their FA WSL Spring Series adventure against Birmingham tonight before the two sides lock horns again in the FA Cup final on Saturday 13 May.
Though eagerly anticipating the clash at Wembley, Duggan has called for her teammates to remain grounded and continue their impressive recent form as Nick Cushing’s side bid to retain their league trophy.
City travel to Reading (Sunday) and Bristol (Tuesday) before their engagement at the national stadium and seek a strong start to their title defence.
“We’re excited for a big few weeks,” Duggan declared. “We can’t get too excited about the FA Cup though because we have a lot of big games coming up before that.
“As a player, I want to win everything. The Spring Series is going to be short but we want to win that trophy. We don’t want to see any other club taking it away.
“Especially on the back of winning the league last year, we’re in a good position, we have a good squad and we have the players to do it.
“I think we did ourselves justice in the Champions League. It was disappointing to go out but we ended on a good result, going to Lyon and winning there.
“We need to put that to bed now and look forward to next year and go into the Spring Series full of confidence and hopefully winning all of our games, getting back to our best.
“Any competition this Club enters, we want to win – right the way through the Club.”
Previewing tonight’s Spring Series opener against Birmingham, the England star stated: “The game will be very different than the FA Cup final will be.
“It will be tough. It’s been exciting and refreshing to see how well Birmingham have done – they’re under a new manager. They’ve always been a tough team and always will be.
“We won’t be taking the game lightly. I believe in our team and I believe we can win both games.”
