Pep Guardiola has hailed Fernandinho as one of the best holding midfielders in the world.

The Brazilian midfielder has featured in all 10 of City’s Premier League clashes so far this season, and netted two goals – one during our huge 7-2 win over Stoke and the other during the recent 3-2 victory over West Brom.

As the Blues prepare to host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, the boss has praised his midfielder’s attitude and mentality.

“Fernandinho is one of the best, best, best holding midfielders in the world,” Guardiola said ahead of their game against the Gunners.

“With his positivity and his mentality - he gives us a lot – with and without the ball, in terms of many things we need to compete.

“Last season we can’t forget he played in full back many times and had no complaints - he tried it and he asked what he had done and how he can improve.

“When that happens and you have a lot of players in the squad with mentality like that you can dream of winning games.”
