Man City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan gave his reaction to CityTV after making his long-awaited first-team return against Watford...
The 26-year-old has battled his way back from a knee injury sustained against the Hornets in December last year and is now hoping for a strong run of fitness.
On his return he said: “Of course very good, it was a long wait, nine months now, so I’m a little proud of myself, because that was not my first long term injury, so it was a long way that I had to fight back.
“But I always kept believing in myself and I just feel pleased now to be in this squad and hopefully I’m going to stay fit for a long while.”
Gundogan came on midway through the second-half of an utterly dominant performance by City at Vicarage Road.
“It was important to win, after this kind of week, it’s always tough to play your best. I think we were very close to it today and absolutely deserved to win.”
