Danilo has stated that becoming a Premier League champion in his debut season with the club was one of the main reasons that he joined Manchester City.
The Brazilian joined Pep Guardiola’s side from Real Madrid in July on a five-year-deal and the defender will now get his hands on two pieces of silverware during his opening campaign.
The 26-year-old states that the challenge of the Premier League was one of the biggest factors in making the move.
“Well, that was one of the reason I signed with Manchester City – for the project itself, for the players, the coach and ambition to win big titles,” Danilo replied when asked about winning the title in his first year at City. “The Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world, the one with more credit, so we really wanted to win it.
“It matched the expectations.”
“I think the way we played was delightful,” the defender added. “The truth is we’ve tried to bring a different way to play that Pep proposed to us.
“We’ve shown an aggressive side and beautiful side where we are looking to score, to win, and that gave us and advantage in most games.”
