Gabriel Jesus has urged City to pick themselves up from the Champions League disappointment by finishing the season with a flourish.
The Brazilian was on the scoresheet as the Blues entertained Liverpool in the quarter-final second leg at the Etihad Stadium, breaking the deadlock after two minutes to hand Pep Guardiola’s men a lifeline, but the Reds rallied to turn the game on its head in the second half and clinch a 5-1 aggregate victory.
The forward admitted the set-back was painful, but encouraged his side to respond by securing the Premier League title in style.
“The result was difficult to take,” Gabriel Jesus told CityTV. “That wasn’t what we wanted but it’s part of football. Sometimes these things happen.
“Congratulations to Liverpool. Now, we must concentrate on last six games we have towards the end of the season to wrap up the title.
“We have to keep our heads up. Liverpool deserved to go through. Now, we must focus on the rest of the season.”
