City boss Pep Guardiola has praised Leroy Sane's consistency this season, but believes the German can go from strength to strength in the coming years.

Pep Guardiola pre-West Ham press conference

Pep Guardiola says Leroy Sane has the potential to get better and better.

The PFA Young Player of the Year has impressed his manager this season and the Catalan says the sky is the limit - with hard work - for the young German.

“I think the most important thing is his consistency during the game. Its quality for itself - for me the most important part is he has gap and space to be a better player. In every training session to be better and better. He has huge potential to be better.”

The City boss also eluded to the records City can target as a good focus for the games that remain.

He said: “We had days off and now we train for West Ham. If the numbers help us to be more focused then that is perfect. Our main target is win the title and then we will talk to the club about the players - who will stay and who will go.  In summer, we will not think about back to back titles, but focus on pre-season and keep doing better and better as we go into the opening games. we have four  games left - we want to finish high.

“I said before that records will be broken and then those will be broken. Records aren’t forever as one team in the future can break them - but it helps us to be focused in remaining games. We do what we have to do. It’s OK, it’s nice but important.”
