Kevin De Bruyne believes Manchester City’s Carabao Cup final victory was a key milestone in what could prove to be a historic campaign for the club.

Goals from Sergio Aguero, captain Vincent Kompany and David Silva helped secure a 3-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley to deliver the first trophy of Pep Guardiola’s reign.

With City 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League and also on course to reach the last eight of the Champions League, there could be more silverware in store this season.

And De Bruyne, who has been one of the club’s key performers this term, said securing the first trophy of the season in such an emphatic manner was crucial.

And the Belgian midfielder also had warm words of praise for goalkeeper Claudio Bravo who set up Sergio’s opener and produced a fine all-round display.
