Pep Guardiola spoke highly of Arsene Wenger in his Carabao Cup Final press conference.
The two managers go head-to-head as City and Arsenal lock horns at Wembley on Sunday afternoon and Guardiola expressed admiration for what his Gunners counterpart has achieved in English football.
“Arsene has made an outstanding job here in England,” he stated.
“He is special. To be there for a long time in the same place means you are comfortable there and that people are comfortable with you.
“Everybody can win and only stay for a short time but if you stay for a long time, it’s because you are good. Simple.
“You have passion and you are still enjoying your job, and you believe and dream that you can do better with your club and your players. That’s the reason for longevity.
“I think he did [make a significant impact in English football]. I was not here – you (the journalists) were here – but definitely.
“When one manager is at one club for a long time it’s because of success and he has done good things but on Sunday, he is my rival…”
